Does It Produce Love?
Every christian generation has its prejudice. In the past in has been Jews – African Americans – Women – Non white immigrants – LGBTQ and so many more. If they are different, then those children of God are open for hatred and ridicule. Consider the following:
••• 83% of LGBTQ folks come from christian homes.
••• Suicide attempts in young LGBTQ persons is double that of all teenagers.
••• 40% of Americas 1.6 million homeless teenagers are LGBTQ because they were kicked out of christian homes.
••• LGBTQ kids who are rejected by family are 8.4 times more likely to commit suicide, 5.9 times more likely to have depression, 3.4 times more likely to use drugs.
••• Having just one family member who supports them cuts the suicide attempts in half.
••• 54% of LGBTQ leave religion and many times abandon God.
••• LGBTQ people who were forced to try orientation change are twice as likely to face depression, 2.5 times more likely to commit suicide and three times more likely if a religious leader made them go.
••• In 2019 the President of the leading conversion therapy organization disbanded the program. He said no one changes their sexual orientation. It simply doesn’t happen.
The way we interpret the bible passages that maybe addresses LGBTQ people is a matter of life and death. We need to get it right. If your treatment of ANY of Gods children does not produce LOVE… then it is not of God and Jesus! Matthew 7 I Love You – Perry
