Walk The Talk!
In Exodus 14 Moses told the Israelites at the Red Sea “you have to do nothing but keep still. Yahweh will do the fighting for you”. So many times we think we must instruct by words when in fact our deeds and lifestyle is so much more of a teaching tool. A quiet allowing is much to be preferred to any strict controlling. Yet this is quite amazing and totally counter-intuitive for most of us. We use so many words, myself included, in an effort to prove ourselves knowledgeable. We address or approach people, as if we have all the answers and our knowledge of the scripture should give them reason to listen. When in fact, a life of service and love for others, that can be seen, speaks so much louder than words. He never asked her to go. That is what she told me. He simply made sure he always went to church. He simply made sure he always prayed. Before long she had the same yearning. My dad never talked to my mom about God… he simply shined Christ presence and showed faith through his life. That is all it took for her to come to our Savior. Teaching is good but how many times do you see teachers of Christ love… that do not shine it. How many times do you see wrongful actions… that speak louder than the words from their mouth. Hollow words do not go far. According to Paul, you can talk all you want to but without showing love you are nothing more than a clanging cymbal!
