Two Rules – One God!
Empathy… one of the greatest human traits Jesus calls us to. God gave me an empathic heart. It sometimes gets me in trouble as it makes it hard to say I can’t, when someone needs help. I cry as I watch the news and I see immigrant families torn apart simply because they are looking for a better life. Jesus would simply love! Matthew 25. I cry as I watch people of color being abused and mistreated simply because they were born with dark skin. Jesus would simply love! Matthew 25. I cry as I talk to those that are gay when they tell me the hatred they deal with. The persecution upon them simply because they were born to be different. Jesus would simply love! Matthew 25. I cry and grow weary as I look around and see so much hatred… indifference… and lack of integrity, in the world today. From our leaders and the population in general. Jesus would simply love! Matthew 25. Christianity is not hard. Religion and people make it that way. Jesus gave us two rules and two rules only. Matthew 22. “Love me with all your heart, soul, and mind. Equally as important love all others just as much as you love me!” First one sounds easy. Second one is much harder, when in fact he asked us to go a step further… to love our enemies as much as we love him. Two rules – One God! So simple… but we make it so hard.
