Complete Trust Illuminates Grace!
So many things in our lives warrant our trust. As I sit typing this I am leaning back against my studio chair. As I sat down this evening, the thought never crossed my mind as to whether it will hold me up, as I lean against its back. The most trust worthy thing we have is our God and his Son. But oh how we waiver in our trust. As humans we tend to trust more in OUR understanding and OUR works than in his love. We do not fully trust his grace. We try so hard to earn it… to be good enough. Do you do good to earn Gods love or because you rest in his love and want to love him back? Do you follow him out of love or out of fear of punishment? True love can never come from fear. I do many things for my wife. I rarely say no, and when she needs something I am there. Not out of a desire to earn her love, but because I love her so deeply. Grace and love can not be induced by morality or even following law. Grace and love comes like the best and worse of our tears. Its uninvited… uncreated… unchosen and unexpected. True love and grace is created out of nothing. Letting go of our understanding and completely trusting in him is scary to us. Our egos and our biases want to be in control. We want a safety net because flying in the dark is frightening. Only complete trust will allow you to see his grace and fully experience his love.
