Everything Is Holy!

So many people look for happiness in the wrong places.  I have come to an understanding in my everyday life that everything we experience transcends our being. We must come to know that, through art – music – love – sex – nature – relationships, there is God beyond the thing. We have to understand that there is more to life then what we see… feel… and taste.  The more we listen to God the more we will come to realize that we must not become dependent on an hour each Sunday to have a transcendent encounter. We must live with the knowledge that the world is sacred and embrace the truth that the place where we stand, no matter where that is, is always holy ground.  As I unbox the God I grew up with, my “old time religion” has become to feel restrictive to my soul.  The unspoken creeds and the talks of a punitive God smells of hypocrisy.  I have come to realize that the God I grew up with is way to small to be able to bring deep seated joy.  Our God, the one that holds everything together, across the globe, is so much bigger than our minds can comprehend.  We try to put him in our mold because we are uncomfortable thinking that he may have left the building and is loving the whole world and not just our tribe or way of thinking. When Jesus spoke in Matthew – Mark – and Luke of new wineskins he was referring to being able to grow beyond our old borders. New wine expands as it ages. So should we.

I Love You! – Perry
