That “Thing” Is God!
Many times we think too much and do not allow ourselves to be. We do not allow ourselves to be lead by the holy spirit. Since the summer of 2025 I have allowed myself to not spend so much time wondering what the church has taught, but simply dwell on Jesus, his teachings, and the spirit he left to guide us. I have spent much time in contemplation looking to guidance from within as opposed to guidance from leaders in the religious realm. When we stand watching a sunset… when we enjoy good music that moves our soul… or taste food so delicious that it brings us joy, then we are experiencing God. We know firsthand through art… music…love…sex…nature… relationships… that there is a “thing” beyond that moment. That there is a God who loves and cares for us deeply. The less dependent we are on an hour each Sunday to create a transcendent encounter the more we will understand the world as sacred. We will then understand that the place we stand, no matter where it is, is always holy ground. When you start to unbox God and Jesus then the normal of what you were taught becomes so small. The creeds seem unwieldy, the sermons many times sound alarms of hypocrisy. God goes far beyond the borders of our understanding… of our teachings… of our comprehension. Many times you will discover that God has left the building. If you love your church don’t forsake it. However allow yourself to see the worship in everything you do. Even the rocks praise his name. Learn to notice him in everything. I Love You! – Perry
