Simply Saved!

I have sat so many times in thought trying to imagine what is was like. The moment our Savior gave himself over to his father.  So many things happened the moment Jesus died on the cross.  Darkness… earthquake… open graves. However the temple curtain gives me pause and deep consideration. It tore from the top to bottom.  A curtain that was believed to be sixty feet tall made of very thick material simply split in two.  It was this curtain—which separated the Outer Court from the Holy Place—this curtain was torn in two at the moment Jesus died. As I think on what that meant it is clear what God was saying in that moment.  What divided Jewish men from Jewish women… Gentiles from Jews… black from white… christian from atheist… poor from rich… all divisions of people… was ripped down. The system of stratification that we have always cultivated and that found expression in the temple was symbolically done away with. God was saying my son died for everyone.  No matter who… no matter where…  God was saying thru Jesus… “Are you content to settle for the temporary thirst quenchers of life: the things on which this society places so much value, things that will never satisfy the thirst of your parched, dry souls? Or do you thirst for righteousness, for peace, for justice, for the liberation of all God’s people?”  All the things Jesus had taught during his three years was symbolically demonstrated in that one moment.  No more division.  His children… all of us… until the end of age.

Not holy and unholy.  SIMPLY SAVED!

I Love You! – PERRY
