Making A Difference!

I had been worship director for sometime and had to leave on vacation.  Before leaving I made arrangements to have a famous person lead worship, another famous one delivered the lesson.  At the end of worship I arranged for a special concert after a corporate meal. I told the leadership that this would be a good time to invite all the other churches to join us in an effort to form relationships and further the word of God.  Upon my return I was told the concert went well, but they did not invite the other churches in the area, as they worship different than we do. The Jesus I worship embraces all people.  He loves all people.  He did not ask how do you worship… where do you come from… what lifestyle do you lead?  Other people affected Jesus deeply:  obstinacy frustrated him… self-righteousness infuriated him… simple faith thrilled him.  He seemed more spontaneous than the average person as well as more passionate.  We are missing the point. We are not to be isolated avoiders… passionless nerds…or snooty critics.  Just like the apostles we are to be in the world, engaged and loving. As John wrote “we must walk as Jesus did”.  Jesus was engaged, alive, involved, and making a difference.  If the only people you hang out with are other Jesus followers… If the only people you engage are church members…  If you stay afraid of what you might see or hear…  How are you every going to share the spirit of Jesus with the world? Weren’t we put here to make a difference? or to judge?

I Love You! – Perry
